We integrate various disciplines directing our efforts towards getting uniquely sensitized, toxic, out of balance, undernourished patients on the road to recovery.
Our practice shares common ground with:
- Natural Medicine practitioners who use diet, exercise, herbal remedies, and other gentle approaches to help patients move from disease to wellness by improving the body's ability to heal itself.
- Nutritionists who realize the importance of good food and intelligent eating practices.
- Toxicologists that study and inform us about poisons and their adverse effect on health.
- Occupational Medicine doctors who focus on the work place striving to make it as safe as possible for the average employee while helping to decide whether liability exists for employers or insurance companies regarding injuries or disability.
- Mainstream Allergists who study a person's acquired immediate sensitizations and often help patients find relief with medications, environmental controls and allergy shots.
My own field of Environmental Medicine grew out of the understanding that our bodies do not function well primarily because of exposures to the thousands of toxic chemicals found in our food, air, and water. Certain people because of their genetic makeup, previous injuries, or poor nutrition are more susceptible than the average individual so that with exposures they become sick. Conditions they experience frequently involve disruption of the immune, endocrine, and nervous systems.
In our practice we develop customized assessment and treatment plans for each individual integrating the various healthcare disciplines as part of our efforts toward getting uniquely sensitized, toxic, out of balance, undernourished patients on the road to recovery. This takes time: Our typical new visit is 90 minutes and follow-up visits, 30 minutes.
